Emperor Wu of Han (156 BC-87 BC), personal name Liu Che was the seventh emperor of the Han Dynasty in China, ruling from 141 BC to 87 BC Emperor Wu was the tenth child of Emperor Jing, and was born to one of Emperor Jing's favorite concubines. He was chosen as prince at the age of seven and was enthroned when he was sixteen years old. At the age of 70, he died on the throne, ending his 54-year rule.
During his time, he adopted the suggestions of a civil official, Dong Jing Su to reject the thoughts of other schools and follow the Confucius school.
Confucianism influence continued for more than a thousand year until the Ming Dynasty. Dong Jing Su focused on the interaction between Heaven and Man, considering that the actions of man also affects Heaven.
If the Emperor is wise and kind, heaven will show auspicious signs. So if Ganoderma Lucidum was found in the palace, it means the Emperor has more integrity, which will bring about peace and prosperity. Therefore it has been known as an auspicious herb and claimed by the ruling class for having a mysterious super natural power.
Emperor Wu is best remembered for the vast territorial expansion that occurred under his reign, as well as the strong and centralized Confucian state he organized. He is cited as one of the greatest emperors because his time were among the most prosperous periods in Chinese history.
